Approximately 70% of cryptocurrency wrench attacks occur in France.

PANews reported on May 24th that, according to Cointelegraph, Bitcoin journalist Joe Nakamoto stated that approximately 70% of "wrench attacks" (physical attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders and their families to steal digital assets) occur in France. Nakamoto indicated that as of 2026, France has seen 41 cryptocurrency-related kidnappings, averaging one every two and a half days.
