PANews reported on November 8 that according to Guangming Daily, the Ministry of State Security announced a case on November 8: Wang was a public official of a confidential unit and was a good young man in the eyes of the unit and his family. However, due to losses from investing in virtual currency and owing huge debts, he was lured and instigated by foreign spy intelligence agencies and gradually embarked on a criminal path. The national security agency found that Wang provided top-secret and confidential state secrets to the other party and obtained spy funds equivalent to more than 1 million yuan through virtual currency recharges and transactions. In the end, Wang was sentenced to life imprisonment by the People's Court for espionage and deprived of political rights for life.

The confidentiality management system and protective measures of Wang’s unit were not strictly implemented, which provided Wang with an opportunity to steal and provide secrets to foreign espionage agencies. The national security agency, together with relevant departments, carried out joint law enforcement work against Wang’s unit in accordance with the law and ordered it to make rectification within a time limit.
