US President Biden thanks Nigerian President for helping Binance executives get released

PANews reported on October 30 that according to The Block, the White House issued a statement on Tuesday saying that US President Biden thanked Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on the phone for releasing Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan. In addition, Biden also praised the work of the Anti-Money Laundering and Cryptocurrency Bilateral Liaison Group launched by Nigeria on October 23. At the same time, the United States and Nigeria announced the establishment of a bilateral liaison group focused on combating crypto-related crimes.

Gambaryan is a former IRS agent and head of financial crime compliance at Binance. While detained in a Nigerian prison, his family said he suffered severe pain from a herniated disc, was unable to walk, and also suffered from pneumonia and malaria. The charges were dropped on October 23.
