PANews reported on January 21 that according to Bloomberg, US President-elect Donald Trump nominated current Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Caroline Pham as acting chairman. The five CFTC commissioners voted to confirm the nomination on Monday. Pham will replace Rostin Behnam until the Senate approves the new official chairman.
Caroline Pham is known for supporting regulatory clarity in the digital asset industry and has proposed the use of a "regulatory sandbox" to help companies test the feasibility of their products and services in the short term under regulatory supervision without having to fully complete the registration and compliance process. This concept aims to balance industry innovation with regulatory requirements, or provide a reference for the CFTC's potential expansion in the digital asset field. Pham previously worked at Citigroup for more than seven years and was nominated by President Biden as a CFTC commissioner in 2021.
