SEC Moves Top Crypto Litigator Jorge Tenreiro to IT Department

PANews reported on February 5 that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has transferred Jorge Tenreiro, a senior lawyer in charge of multiple crypto lawsuits, to the Information Technology (IT) department. Tenreiro has led multiple lawsuits against crypto exchanges and platforms and is considered to have a significant decisive influence on the scope of the SEC's crypto regulation.

The move was interpreted as the SEC adjusting its attitude toward the crypto industry under the new administration, which may be partly due to the increased investment of crypto companies in political lobbying and the Trump administration's support for cryptocurrencies. Previously, Trump had signed an executive order on a new crypto regulatory framework and sold his personal digital tokens, with a market value of approximately $3.5 billion. The SEC did not comment on the personnel adjustment, but industry insiders believe that the move may mark a major shift in the SEC's regulatory stance on cryptocurrencies.
