Jump Trading sues former Firedancer engineer for breach of non-compete agreement

PANews reported on January 23 that according to The Block, Jump Trading has filed a lawsuit against its former software engineer Liam Heeger, accusing him of violating the non-compete agreement and secretly raising funds to establish a competing business while in office. Heeger was previously the co-leader of Jump's Firedancer project. He resigned on November 11, 2024 and subsequently founded a new blockchain development company Unto Labs, with the goal of developing a new Layer 1 blockchain.

Jump said that Heeger used company resources to secretly meet with venture capital firms during the Breakpoint conference in Singapore before his resignation to raise $3 million for the new company, with a valuation of $50 million. In addition, Jump also accused him of using company confidential information to serve the new project.

In response, Unto Labs strongly denied the allegations and stated that its business is completely independent of Jump and the allegations are "groundless." The case is under legal proceedings.
