PANews reported on March 6 that according to DL News, Nigerian crypto users are unhappy about missing out on airdrops due to the government's long-standing dispute with the crypto exchange Binance. This week, Nigerian users who tried to access Binance Web3 tasks received a notification that the service was no longer available. Binance Web3 tasks are a platform for earning cryptocurrency giveaways by completing simple social tasks such as following a project's X account or recommending a friend.
Binance has more than 380,000 active users in Nigeria. This week, several Nigerian cryptocurrency users contacted DL News and provided screenshots of being unable to access the company's cryptocurrency giveaway platform. The access ban is the latest restriction Binance has imposed on Nigerian users. Last year, the exchange banned Nigerian users from accessing its peer-to-peer trading platform and removed the digitized version of the country's fiat currency, the Naira.
It is reported that Binance faces multiple criminal charges in Nigeria, and a Nigerian judge postponed the trial of the $81 billion fine case to April 7.
