Crypto firm Zama launches tool for building private applications on any EVM chain

PANews reported on December 6 that according to Cointelegraph, the crypto company Zama has launched a tool called the fhEVM coprocessor on Ethereum's Sepolia testnet, which is said to enable developers to create confidential smart contracts on any blockchain. The fhEVM coprocessor is scheduled to be fully launched on the mainnet in mid-2025.

“The implementation of the fhEVM native protocol has enabled the creation of important blockchain infrastructure that reconciles the needs of blockchain transparency with enhanced privacy,” said Rand Hindi, CEO of Zama. “This release enables developers to deploy confidential smart contracts on any blockchain that does not support FHE (fully homomorphic encryption).” Key innovations of the tool include keeping encrypted data processable while maintaining blockchain composability and programmable privacy controls.
