PANews reported on February 5 that according to Cointelegraph, Landon Zinda has resigned from his position as policy director of the cryptocurrency advocacy organization Coin Center and joined the cryptocurrency working group of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In an announcement on February 4, SEC Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda said that Zinda has joined the commission as its advisor and senior advisor to the cryptocurrency working group. The former Coin Center director will join the working group led by Commissioner Hester Peirce along with Chief of Staff Richard Gabbert and Chief Policy Advisor Taylor Asher.
Neeraj Agrawal, Coin Center’s director of communications, confirmed that Zinda is “no longer an employee of the firm.” As of Feb. 4, his name still appears on Coin Center’s website, and his LinkedIn profile shows that he has worked at the advocacy organization since March 2023.
The Cryptocurrency Working Group was announced on Jan. 21 to “help the Commission draw clear regulatory boundaries, provide a practical registration path, develop a sound disclosure framework, and prudently deploy enforcement resources.” The SEC said the group will coordinate and work with other federal agencies, including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
