PANews reported on June 7 that the 21st Century Business Herald published an analysis article titled "Hong Kong "bets" on stablecoins: a key move for an international financial center", which pointed out that Hong Kong proposed the concept of "specified stablecoins", which corresponds to the model of "value anchoring supervision". The concept of "specified stablecoins" refers to stablecoins that maintain stable value by reference to one or more official currencies, or units of calculation or forms of economic value storage designated by the HKMA. Supervision focuses on two types of activities: issuing specified stablecoins in Hong Kong; or issuing specified stablecoins outside Hong Kong but claiming to be anchored to the value of the Hong Kong dollar. This design ensures that stablecoins pegged to the Hong Kong dollar are regulated, while leaving some room for other stablecoins.
