PANews reported on March 5 that according to the New York Times, US President Donald Trump privately said that he would insist on imposing tariffs. US Commerce Secretary Lutnick said earlier in the day that Trump might reach a middle ground with Canada and Mexico on tariffs. Trump's 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada took effect on Tuesday.
