PANews reported on April 12 that according to News.bitcoin, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on April 9 that a Nigerian man was accused in Massachusetts of planning a complex love scam, defrauding more than $2.5 million and transferring the funds to a cryptocurrency account he secretly managed. According to prosecutors, the man created false online identities and established false romantic relationships with victims between 2016 and 2019, targeting people across the United States. The man currently faces up to 40 years in prison.
