PANews reported on January 22 that according to TechCrunch, Perplexity launched the Sonar API on January 21, allowing enterprises and developers to integrate its generative AI search tools into their own applications. Sonar supports real-time networking and obtains answers from trusted sources to improve accuracy and authority. The API is divided into a basic version of Sonar and an advanced version of Sonar Pro. The basic version costs $5 per 1,000 searches, and $1 for every 750,000 words of input and output respectively; the Pro version costs $3 for input and $15 for output, and supports complex questions and more citations. Companies such as Zoom have provided real-time search support for their AI assistants through Sonar, without the user having to leave the video conference window.
