Bitget Outlines Phased Withdrawal Resumption After $387.5 Million Hack

Bitget confirmed it has identified and patched the vulnerability behind the September 24 security incident, stressing that user balances remain unaffected and the platform's protection fund will absorb the financial impact. Withdrawals will resume in stages starting September 28 at 08:00 UTC for BTC, followed by ETH on September 29, USDT across four networks on September 30, and all other tokens, fiat, and P2P withdrawals from October 2. CEO Gracy Chen and Greater China head Xie Jiayin will host a live AMA on September 28 at 15:30 UTC+8 to address community concerns. The exchange has also launched a Recovery Bounty Program offering 5% rewards for both freezing and recovering stolen funds, as on-chain tracking now places total losses at roughly $387.5 million.

Hong Kong Derivatives Clearing Houses to Accept Chinese Government Bonds as Collateral

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing announced that its futures and options clearing subsidiaries will accept Chinese government bonds and policy bank bonds held via Bond Connect Northbound, along with offshore Ministry of Finance bonds, as eligible non-cash collateral for margin requirements starting November 2026, pending regulatory approval. HKEX Chief Operating Officer Vanessa Lau said the move will expand use cases for Chinese government bonds in the Hong Kong market. The change is expected to deepen connectivity between mainland China's bond market and Hong Kong's derivatives infrastructure.

US-China Trade Truce Extended by Two Months to January 2027

The United States and China have agreed to extend their one-year trade truce by just two months, pushing the expiry date from November to January 10, 2027, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The shorter-than-expected extension maintains lower tariff levels and safeguards rare earth supply chains. Market participants had widely anticipated a six-month or longer extension, making the limited timeframe a signal of ongoing friction between the world's two largest economies.

Sui Ecosystem Lending Protocol AlphaFi Winds Down After Bad Debt Resolved

AlphaFi, a DeFi lending protocol on Sui, has entered maintenance mode and will shut down in an orderly manner after severely undercollateralized ALPHA-backed positions created bad debt. The Sui Foundation security team worked with the project to fully cover the shortfall, and the protocol remains solvent with user funds protected. Withdrawals remain open while new deposits and borrowings are halted. Users are advised to close positions and withdraw assets, with instant withdrawals available for SUI, WAL, DEEP, and USDC strategies.

Bitget Launches Bounty Program as Stablecoin Issuers Freeze Hacker Funds

Bitget's Recovery Bounty Program went live, offering 5% rewards to parties who help freeze or recover assets tied to this week's exploit. Circle and Tether have already frozen approximately 100,000 USDC and 218,023 USDT linked to attacker addresses, totaling around $318,000. On-chain monitoring shows the attacker has been converting stolen TRX into USDT and rapidly routing funds through Stargate or THORChain into BTC, narrowing the freeze window to just minutes.

Chinese A-Share Firm Chutian Dragon Wins Digital Yuan Hardware Wallet Contract

Chutian Dragon, a Shenzhen-listed company, won a bid to build a digital yuan hardware wallet management system for an undisclosed operator, providing end-to-end services from hardware supply to issuance platform delivery. The platform covers card application, data management, product ordering, version updates, and transaction operations. The firm has already deployed digital yuan applications in public services, smart transportation, and green finance, and plans to expand into retail payments, cross-border settlement, and supply chain finance.

Binance Co-Founder CZ Pledges Ecosystem Support for Bitget

Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao voiced support for Bitget following the security breach, stating that Binance, the BNB Chain ecosystem, and the broader community will do their best to help. He ended his message with the familiar industry refrain "Stay SAFU." The gesture highlights growing collaboration among major Asian exchanges during security incidents, even as competitive tensions persist in the region.

LayerZero to End Off-Chain Support for Japan Open Chain and 12 Other Networks

LayerZero announced it will discontinue off-chain service support for 13 low-activity networks starting September 30, including Japan Open Chain, opBNB, Taiko, Merlin, and Gnosis. The move means LayerZero's DVN and Executor services will no longer cover these chains, and Stargate Hydra will drop support for some affected networks. The cull reflects broader industry consolidation as interoperability protocols prioritize networks with sustained usage.

Bitdeer Maintains Zero Bitcoin Treasury, Sells 288.4 BTC This Week

Nasdaq-listed mining firm Bitdeer reported producing 288.1 BTC and selling 288.4 BTC for the week ending September 25, maintaining its strategy of holding zero bitcoin on its balance sheet. The Singapore-headquartered miner continues to diverge from peers that accumulate bitcoin treasuries. Bitdeer's approach reflects a preference for immediate cash flow over long-term asset appreciation amid market volatility.

Bitcoin Trades Above $84,000 as Altcoins Outperform

Bitcoin briefly crossed $84,000 on OKX, with altcoins showing stronger momentum as ENA surged over 22% in 24 hours while PUMP, SEI, and JTO gained around 17%. The altcoin season index climbed to 56, its highest level in over three months, signaling capital rotation away from bitcoin as it consolidates. Liquid Capital founder Yi Lihua noted the market faces normal pullback pressure at the $86,000 resistance level but advised against shorting in a bull market.
