PANews reported on February 10 that, according to Cointelegraph, Coinbase's "all-purpose app," Base App, announced it will discontinue its creator rewards program and Farcaster-based social feed, and will focus entirely on tradable assets in the future.
Base creator Jesse Pollak stated that as the application opens to the public, "we realized we needed to focus on doing fewer things better," and focusing on tradable assets is the way to achieve this. He explicitly stated that the core focus of the application should be trading. The creator rewards program will officially end this Sunday, with final payments distributed on February 18th. Pollak also mentioned that the Base App is not an ideal client for Farcaster's social features, but will continue to support the decentralized social network and its developer ecosystem. This adjustment does not affect the Base App's "creator token" feature.
