PANews reported on February 20th that, according to Decrypt , the Netherlands Gambling Authority ( Ksa ) has issued a penalty order against Adventure One QSS Inc., the operator of the prediction market platform Polymarket , finding it to be providing "illegal gambling services" to Dutch users without a license. The Ksa ordered Polymarket to immediately cease operations in the Netherlands, or face fines of € 420,000 per week, up to a maximum of € 840,000 . Ksa pointed out that allowing users to bet on real-world events is prohibited under Dutch law, even by licensees. The regulator stated that it will focus on the actual functionality of the product rather than the platform's self-proclaimed positioning in its assessment. This action is part of a global crackdown on prediction market platforms, including Polymarket and Kalshi .
Dutch regulators have determined that Polymarket provided illegal gambling services.
