BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo has pledged £20 million to the London Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

PANews reported on March 3 that, according to Cointelegraph, BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo has pledged £20 million to the Institute of Mathematical Sciences in London. This donation includes an upfront payment of $13.3 million, with an additional $13.3 million to be released once the institute matches this amount through additional fundraising. This is one of the largest private donations received by a research institution in the UK outside of Oxford and Cambridge, and will be used to help the institute establish an $80 million endowment fund to ensure its long-term development. Delo co-founded BitMEX in 2014, pleaded guilty in 2022 to violating US banking regulations and paid a $10 million fine. He was pardoned by President Trump in March 2025.
