Haverville, Massachusetts, plans to ban cryptocurrency ATMs, citing risks of fraud and money laundering.

PANews reported on April 1st that, according to Cointelegraph, the Haverville City Council in Massachusetts will consider a ban on cryptocurrency ATMs. The proposal, put forward by the mayor, passed its first reading unanimously with 11 votes on March 17th. The proposal states that due to the lack of state and federal regulation, cryptocurrency ATMs pose risks such as financial fraud, money laundering, and lack of recourse for users. If the ban passes, all cryptocurrency self-service terminals and ATMs in the city must be removed within 60 days, or face a $300 fine per day.
