Opinion: The proposal for Bitcoin quantum security should not be rushed; hasty upgrades may introduce the risk of computational attacks.

PANews reported on April 5th that Samson Mow, CEO of JAN3, stated in an article on the X platform that the current response to the threat of Bitcoin quantum computing (QC) should not be rushed. A hasty switch from the existing signature mechanism to a quantum-resistant (PQ) scheme could expose Bitcoin to classical computing attacks in the short term. PQ signatures could increase size by 10 to 125 times, significantly reducing network throughput and potentially triggering a repeat of the scaling controversy of the early "block wars." Furthermore, Mow warned that some PQ schemes may have potential backdoor risks. The threat of quantum computing is still in the medium to long term (potentially 10 to 20 years), and the more reasonable approach now is continuous research rather than hasty deployment. He also specifically named Coinbase, stating that its wallet has a quantum attack vulnerability due to address reuse and suggested prioritizing the fixing of related infrastructure issues.
