More than 67,000 software engineering jobs are available globally, a three-year high.

PANews reported on April 6th, citing Business Insider, that demand for software engineering jobs is expected to rebound significantly in 2026, refuting the popular notion that AI will replace engineers. TrueUp data shows that there are currently over 67,000 software engineering job openings globally, a three-year high, nearly doubling the number of positions since the mid-2023 low. The number of open positions has increased by approximately 30% this year. Despite the rapid development of AI technology, tech companies continue to have strong demand for software engineers and AI-related roles.

TrueUp founder Amit Taylor stated, "Currently, the notion of 'AI replacing engineers' is not reflected in recruitment data, and companies still have a strong demand for top engineers." However, as AI gradually penetrates the economic sphere, it may reduce some positions in the future or make excellent engineers more valuable, leading to intensified competition among companies.
