PANews reported on April 9 that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that, given Lebanon's repeated requests for direct negotiations with Israel, he instructed yesterday to begin direct talks with Lebanon as soon as possible. The negotiations will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peace relations between Israel and Lebanon. Israel thanked the Lebanese Prime Minister for his call today for the demilitarization of Beirut.
