The US Treasury Secretary and the Federal Reserve convened an emergency meeting with Wall Street executives to discuss the network risks of Anthropic's new AI model.

PANews reported on April 10th, citing Bloomberg, that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell convened an emergency closed-door meeting in Washington this week with CEOs of several systemically important banks to discuss potential cybersecurity risks posed by Anthropic's next-generation AI model, Mythos. The report states that regulators are concerned that the model could automatically identify and exploit vulnerabilities in mainstream operating systems and browsers under user commands, or be used by hackers to launch new types of cyberattacks. Anthropic has restricted Mythos's availability to only a select few large technology and financial institutions as part of "Project Glasswing," which includes Amazon, Apple, and JPMorgan, aiming to strengthen critical financial and technological infrastructure before more similar models are deployed.
