PANews reported on April 14th that, according to Cryptopolitan, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform Party and a Member of Parliament, purchased £2 million (approximately $2.7 million) worth of Bitcoin through the listed Bitcoin treasury company Stack, becoming the first sitting Member of Parliament and party leader in the UK to publicly purchase Bitcoin. Farage had previously invested £215,000 in Stack through his company Thorn In The Side Ltd, acquiring approximately 6% of the company, which is chaired by former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng.
Following its announcement of the purchase of 37 bitcoins, Stack's total holdings have reached 68. Farage also received a £4 million crypto donation from BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo and a £9 million donation from crypto investor Christopher Harborne. Farage is committed to promoting deregulation in the crypto industry and hopes to revitalize the UK crypto sector after the Reform Party comes to power. Critics have called Farage's crypto investments a "scandal hidden under our noses," arguing that it's not just about Bitcoin, but also about investing in political influence and power.
