Crypto fund manager Joe McCann embroiled in the mysterious death of his fiancée in Zanzibar

PANews reported on April 16th that, according to CoinDesk, Joe McCann, founder of Asymmetric and a crypto fund manager, is under investigation in Tanzania after his fiancée, American social media influencer Ashly Robinson (also known as Ashlee Jenae), died this month at the Zuri Zanzibar resort in Zanzibar. Local police stated that after an argument with McCann and being twice asked to leave by hotel staff and moved to separate rooms, the 31-year-old Robinson committed suicide in her private villa. The autopsy results are pending, and McCann's passport has been confiscated, requiring him to remain in Tanzania. Robinson's family questions the suicide conclusion and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover travel and related expenses. McCann's Asymmetric Liquid Alpha Fund was previously reported to have closed after significant losses in 2025. The U.S. State Department only expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, stating that the investigation is being handled by local police.
