Polish Prime Minister's revelation that a crypto company with mafia ties to the regime funded political rivals is impacting the country's crypto regulatory process.

PANews reported on April 18th that, according to The Block, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that a crypto company linked to Russian mafia and intelligence agencies had provided financial support to its political opponents and influenced the domestic crypto regulatory process. Speaking during a parliamentary vote, Tusk identified the company as Zondacrypto and alleged that some Polish politicians' obstruction of crypto regulatory legislation was related to the company's interests. He also claimed that the company's funding sources were linked to the Russian "Bratva" mafia and intelligence agencies.

Donald Tusk further pointed out that Zondacrypto sponsored the CPAC event in Poland, where former US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem publicly endorsed presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki. Nawrocki is not against crypto regulation itself, but rather the government's proposed "flawed regulatory model." Previously, the Polish parliament failed to overturn the president's veto of the crypto bill, hindering the government's plans to align with the EU's MiCA framework.
