PANews reported on April 28th that, according to The Block, U.S. Representative Nick Begich stated at the Bitcoin 2026 conference that he plans to reintroduce his Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act in the coming weeks, renaming the original "BITCOIN Act" to the "American Reserve Modernization Act." This bill aims to legislate President Trump's executive order, establishing a permanent Bitcoin reserve, requiring Bitcoin to be held "for a very long time," and acquiring 1 million Bitcoins within five years through a "budget-neutral strategy." Begich stated that the name change is to allow Congress and the nation to better understand the bill's objectives and ensure Bitcoin is treated as a reserve asset. He also pointed out that given the uncertainty surrounding the next administration's stance on digital assets, this is an opportunity to solidify the results and allow Congress to take action.
US Representative Begich plans to rename and reinstate the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Act, thus legislating Trump's executive order.
