ZachXBT identifies a US social worker suspected of theft in connection with a $19 million cryptocurrency theft case.

PANews reported on May 12 that on-chain investigator ZachXBT publicly accused US threat actor Dritan Kapllani Jr. of involvement in a social engineering theft case targeting crypto users, totaling approximately $19 million. ZachXBT stated that Dritan displayed an Exodus wallet containing $3.68 million in assets during a Discord call and was traced back to a theft of 185 BTC (approximately $13 million) in March 2026.

ZachXBT reports that the U.S. Department of Justice unsealed the criminal complaint against Trenton Johnson on May 11. Johnson faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison for his involvement in the 185 BTC theft, while Dritan, listed as "Compatriot No. 1 (CC-1)," has not yet been formally charged. Additionally, Memecoin maker KOLyelotree has been indicted for assisting in money laundering through a Miami car rental business, and faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
