PANews reported on May 16 that, according to Hong Kong's Oriental Daily News, a 34-year-old mainland man lost approximately 500,000 RMB in investments on a cryptocurrency platform and repeatedly complained to the platform without success. On May 14, the man posted on the platform that he planned to commit suicide in Hong Kong. Following an investigation, law enforcement intercepted him at a fast-food restaurant that afternoon, seizing a lighter and suspected gasoline from his person. He was arrested on charges of "possession of articles with intent to damage property" and is currently being detained for investigation. No one was injured in the incident.
