PANews reported on May 17th that, according to CoinDesk, Jump Crypto's Solana validator client Firedancer has launched on the mainnet and begun producing blocks, processing tens of millions of transactions in the past few months. Firedancer founding engineer Ritchie Patel stated that the team intends to slow down the rollout and will not conduct large-scale public deployments to avoid the risks associated with large-scale network upgrades before a thorough security audit is completed.
Firedancer, developed by Jump Crypto, is a validator client for Solana (or other versions of blockchain software). The project arose in part from concerns about early Solana outages and its reliance on a single dominant client maintained by Anza, the Solana infrastructure company.
