PANews reported on May 19th, citing Reuters, that Nobitex, Iran's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has processed at least $2.3 billion in transactions through Tron and BNB Chain since 2023. These two blockchains were founded by crypto billionaires Justin Sun and Changpeng Zhao, both key backers of the Trump family's World Liberty Financial. Reuters' first-ever disclosure of on-chain data shows that since the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq War in February, at least $22.6 million in crypto assets have flowed through Nobitex on BNB Chain, and at least $550,000 through Tron.
Nobitex is widely used by sanctioned Iranian institutions, including the Central Bank of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. A White House spokesperson denied any conflict of interest involving Trump's business. World Liberty stated it has no affiliation with Nobitex. Binance and BNB Chain responded that BNB Chain is a decentralized public blockchain, and Binance neither operates nor controls the network. Tron stated it cannot monitor every transaction.
