PANews reported on May 19th that, according to PR Newswire, Hut 8 announced a partnership with West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, to invest approximately $16 million to expand the local water supply system to support its River Bend AI data center campus. The project includes the construction of a new well, approximately 8 miles of pipeline, and other system upgrades. Upon completion, the project will be handed over to the local government free of charge and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. The upgrade is expected to improve the water supply capacity and reliability throughout the area, potentially benefiting over 4,000 households and more than 200 employers. The first phase of the River Bend campus is one of the largest private infrastructure investments in the area's history, with a peak construction workforce of approximately 1,000 workers and expected to create at least 268 direct and indirect jobs upon completion.
