US media: Trump's proposed changes to the US-Iran agreement involve nuclear material acquisition and the Strait of Hormuz.

PANews reported on May 31 that, according to a report by Axios cited by Jinshi, a senior administration official and another source familiar with the matter revealed that Trump, during a meeting at the Situation Room on Friday, demanded several revisions to the proposed agreement reached between his special envoy and Iranian representatives. The two US officials stated that Trump wants to reach the agreement and expects it to be finalized soon, but he has requested strengthening several key points that are crucial to him, particularly the clauses concerning Iran's nuclear materials. Trump's request has triggered a new round of back-and-forth communication between the two sides, a process that could last several days. According to the two sources, Trump asked his team to revise the clauses in the draft concerning Iran's nuclear program. Currently, the memorandum of understanding includes a commitment from Iran not to seek to develop nuclear weapons, but no other concrete concessions. The memorandum stipulates a 60-day window for negotiations on Iran's nuclear commitments and US sanctions relief, with the primary issue on the agenda being how to deal with Iran's existing stockpile of enriched uranium and limit further enrichment activities. Trump wants to try to revise this section. “This is more about specific details of how the U.S. acquires (nuclear) materials and the specific timeline,” a senior administration official said, referring to enriched uranium. A second source said Trump also wants to revise some of the wording regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This U.S. official said Trump is aware that it will take Iran approximately three days to respond.
