Barclays invests in stablecoin clearing platform Ubyx

PANews reported on January 7th that, according to Cointelegraph, Barclays has made its first investment in a stablecoin-related company—the US stablecoin clearing platform Ubyx—though the specific size of the investment was not disclosed. Ryan Hayward, Head of Digital Assets and Strategic Investments at Barclays, stated, “As the token, blockchain, and wallet sectors continue to evolve, expertise will play a crucial role in providing connectivity and infrastructure to help regulated financial institutions achieve seamless interaction. This investment aligns with Barclays’ approach of exploring opportunities based on new digital currencies such as stablecoins.”

In June of last year, it was reported that stablecoin startup Ubyx had completed a $10 million seed round of funding, led by Galaxy Ventures.
