외신에 따르면 미니애폴리스(Minneapolis) 연방 준비은행(FRB)의 닐 카시카리(Neel Kashkari) 총재가 17일(현지시간) 암호화폐의 95%가 사기, 과대광고, 소음, 혼란이라고 말했다. 이어 "마약, 매춘과 같은 불법활동에 자금은 지원하는 것 외에 사용사례를 본 적 없다"고 덧붙였다. 앞서 지난해 2월 닐 카시카리는 “암호화폐는 거대한 쓰레기통”이라며 회의적인 입장을 밝힌 바 있다.
