Paidun: Cryptocurrency security incidents caused $163 million in losses in August, a 15% increase from the previous month

According to PANews on September 1st, Paidun monitoring revealed that in August 2025, there were approximately 16 major security incidents in the crypto sector, resulting in a total loss of $163 million, a 15% increase from the $142 million in July. The five largest incidents were: 1. A Bitcoin holder lost $91.4 million; 2. Turkish crypto exchange BTCTurk suffered a $54 million loss; 3. ODIN•FUN project lost $7 million; 4. BetterBank.io lost $5 million; and 5. CrediXFinance lost $4.5 million.

It is worth noting that BTCTurk has suffered two major security incidents in the past year. Following the loss of US$54 million in June 2024, the cumulative losses have exceeded US$100 million.
