PANews reported on December 4th that, according to Decrypt, Thai authorities seized $8.6 million (300 million baht) worth of Bitcoin mining equipment from seven locations suspected of providing financial support to a transnational fraud syndicate operating in Myanmar. On Tuesday, the Thai Department of Special Investigation raided six locations in Samut Sakhon province and one location in Uthai Thani province, seizing 3,642 mining rigs worth $7.7 million (270 million baht) and electrical equipment worth $860,000 (30 million baht). Thai investigators found that most of the mining equipment was installed in soundproof containers equipped with water-cooling systems. These locations are linked to a fraud syndicate based in Myanmar, whose financial transactions have totaled over $143 million (5 billion baht).
