Casa Co-founder: Quantum computing poses a long-term risk to Bitcoin; transformation may take 5 to 10 years.

PANews reported on December 21 that Jameson Lopp, co-founder of Bitcoin custody company Casa, posted on the X platform, "I have been publicly discussing the risks that quantum computing poses to Bitcoin for 18 months. My main conclusion is that I sincerely hope that the development of quantum computing will stagnate or even decline, because adapting Bitcoin to the post-quantum era will be very difficult for many reasons."

Quantum computers are unlikely to crack the Bitcoin network anytime soon. We will continue to monitor its development. However, a comprehensive overhaul of the Bitcoin network (and an unprecedented migration of funds) could take 5 to 10 years. We should hope for the best, but also prepare for the worst.
