Vanguard executive: Bitcoin is a speculative asset, but acknowledges its potential practical applications during periods of inflation or volatility.

PANews reported on December 13th, citing Cointelegraph, that John Ameriks, Global Head of Quantitative Equities at Vanguard, stated that Bitcoin is purely a speculative asset, similar to a collectible toy. Despite his criticisms, Ameriks indicated that in situations of high fiat currency inflation or political instability, the cryptocurrency could find real-world applications beyond market speculation.
