New York State Lawmakers Propose New Bill to Criminalize Crypto Fraud, Such as “Rug Pulls”

PANews reported on March 6 that the New York State Assembly is considering a new bill (A06515) that aims to establish multiple criminal offenses related to cryptocurrency fraud. The bill was proposed by Congressman Vanel and will add new provisions to the New York Criminal Law (Chapter K, Section 191) to specifically define clearly defined crime types for fraud in the cryptocurrency field, including: virtual token fraud, illegal "Rug Pull" (project parties run away with funds), private key fraud, and fraud in which the interests of virtual tokens are not disclosed.
