Chilean regulator issues notice to World and Rappi to stop iris scanning activities in the country

PANews reported on November 9 that according to Crypto-News-Flash, Chile's consumer protection supervision agency SERNAC has issued a notice to World (formerly Worldcoin) and Rappi, requiring them to stop conducting iris scanning activities in the country.

Rappi has clarified that Rippi and World have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct pilot testing of on-demand human proof services, and that iris scanning is planned to be piloted in Argentina in 2024, not in Chile as previously speculated. However, SERNAC claims to have received multiple investments related to World's operations in the country, including the registration of minors into the system, the operator's failure to disclose data, and the inability to delete data from the system.
