9月29日，门罗币官方发布网络升级提醒称，门罗币将于10月17日进行下次网络升级，用户、运营商及交易所等利益相关方应为运行v0.17版本做好准备。此外，门罗币官方还针对网络升级作出相关解释说明。官方表示，此次升级只是改进基本协议，无争议，不涉及拆分及创建新币；与此同时，PoW算法不受影响。此前8月消息，门罗币官方宣布，将于10月17日进行网络升级，引入CLSAG签名方案。该方案可减少约25%的交易事务规模，以及提高20%的验证性能。
