以太坊经典（Ethereum Classic）核心开发团队 ETC Core 宣布将于区块高度 11,700,000 处（预计 2020 年 11 月 28 日前后）在主网上实施「Thanos」（ECIP-1099）硬分叉网络升级，目前已于 10 月 18 日在 Mordor 测试网实施 Thanos 升级。ETC Core 表示，在成功激活名为「MESS」的可防止 51％攻击的 ETC 安全方案后，决定将 Ethash 挖矿算法的 epoch 间隔从 30,000 区块增加至 60,000 区块，以有效减少 DAG （有向无环图）的大小，修改后的 Ethash 称为 EtcHash，这将允许具有 3GB 和 4GB GPU 系统的矿工恢复挖矿 ETC。链闻注，核心开发人员和社区成员已在 10 月 2 日达成共识以接受 ECIP-1099。
