12月14日消息，欧洲是否会推进欧元的数字化，目前还没有明确的决定。但欧洲央行（ECB）领导层的一份新声明暗示，该机构正在关注此举对市场的潜在影响。其中欧洲央行理事会指出，欧元体系正在朝着可能创建数字欧元的方向发展。并且将不会有意剥夺私营部门在提供支付服务方面的作用，相反它将为支付服务提供一个可能的机会。如果采用这种结构的话，受监管的私人中介机构将处于最佳地位，以提供前端解决方案和辅助服务，并建立基于数字欧元的新商业模式。
