灰度发布公告表示，平台100%致力于将GBTC转变为比特币ETF。灰度于2016年申请比特币ETF，2017年花了很多时间和SEC就此进行对话，但是因为监管环境未成熟，因此撤回申请。除了比特币信托外，灰度还推出很多信托产品，灰度表示其目的一直是将这些产品转变为ETF。目前，灰度认为时机比较成熟，并表示该目标实现之后，GBTC持有人无需采取任何行动，灰度将下调管理费。
