The United States formally withdraws from the World Health Organization.

PANews reported on January 22 that, according to CCTV, on January 20 last year, US President Trump signed an executive order announcing the US withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations received this notification on January 22 of the same year. According to the WHO charter, a member state can only formally withdraw one year after submitting a withdrawal application. Today marks one year since the US formally submitted its application to the United Nations to withdraw from the WHO, meaning that the US has officially withdrawn from the WHO procedurally.

WHO spokesperson Lindmeier recently stated clearly that the United States has the right to withdraw, but only if it settles all outstanding dues. Currently, the United States has not yet paid its dues for 2024 and 2025, totaling approximately $260 million over the two years.
