PANews reported on October 29th that, according to CoinPost, Bybit announced it will suspend new account registrations for individuals and corporations residing in Japan starting October 31st at 21:00, citing compliance measures required by the Japanese Financial Services Agency (FSA) to adhere to regulatory guidelines. Existing users can continue using the service, but based on past cases, further restrictions may be implemented. Bybit received warnings from the FSA in 2021 and 2023, and Japan has recently strengthened its regulation and penalties for unregistered overseas exchanges and cryptocurrency derivatives. The company stated that investor protection and compliance will be prioritized, and preparations for formal registration in Japan will proceed.
