Vitalik: Roger Ver's life sentence for non-violent tax crime is ridiculous

PANews reported on March 1 that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin wrote that it is absurd to be sentenced to life imprisonment for non-violent tax crimes. The case against "Bitcoin Jesus" Roger Ver seems to be highly politically motivated; like Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web Silk Road, many people and companies have been charged with more serious crimes but face much lighter sentences than Roger Ve faces. If the IRS did threaten Roger Ve's lawyers to obtain confidential information, it was an act of bad faith; the right of lawyers to confidential consultation must be sacrosanct. True good faith mistakes should be corrected by giving the parties the opportunity to pay taxes (including interest and penalties), not by prosecution.
