PANews reported on May 23 that according to TASS, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yevgeny Grabchak said that he was considering moving cryptocurrency miners to energy-rich areas in the north and introducing a grid pricing mechanism. The move aims to utilize the power infrastructure resources left over from crude oil extraction, avoid waste, and reduce the burden on local power grids. Since 2025, the Russian government has implemented a mining ban in many regions, and Grabchak emphasized that there is still room for development in the north, parts of the northwest and the Volga region.
