PANews reported on December 24 that, according to Cailian Press, the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits for the first time last week was 214,000, compared to an estimated 223,500. The number of Americans continuing to file for unemployment benefits in the week ending December 13 was 1,923,000, compared to an estimated 1,900,000.
