EU 금융서비스 위원 "암호화폐 규제안 미카, 다른 국가 미참여 시 무의미"

유럽연합 금융서비스 최고위 위원 메어리드 맥기네스(Mairead McGuinness)가 다보스포럼에 참석, 코인데스크와의 인터뷰에서 다른 국가가 동참하지 않는 한 유로존의 암호화폐 규제안 미카(Markets in Crypto Assets, MiCA) 규정은 무의미하다고 말했다. 그는 "미카로 인해 EU가 암호화폐 규제 부분에 있어 주요 관할권을 가지고 있다고 말할 수 있게돼 좋다. 다만, 유럽에서만 자체적으로 존재하는 것에는 의미가 없다. 암호화폐는 전세계적으로 발전하고 있고, 이것에는 장벽을 세울 수 없다"며 "우리가 글로벌적 접근 방식을 취하지 않는다면, 점점 더 많은 문제를 직면하게 될 것이다. 기술에는 국경이 없다"고 강조했다.
